Requirements

The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 requires:

Regulation 44 – The registered person must ensure that an independent person visits the children’s home at least once per month.

On 19^th February 2021 the Education Secretary announced a ban on placing vulnerable children under the age of 16 in unregulated accommodation. This came into force in September 2021.

OfSted can now take enforcement action against illegal unregistered providers, who should be registered as children’s homes but are operating without the correct registration in place.
